Adult Services

Adult Care Home Monitoring:

Licensed adult care home facilities are monitored at least quarterly for compliance with rules and regulations. Complaints are received and investigated regarding care and services. Technical assistance is provided to facility administrators to help ensure that state licensure rules are met.

Adult Placement:
 

Adult Placement Services

Services are offered to individuals and families who are assessing the option of substitute care, i.e. adult care home or nursing home.  Assistance is provided regarding the facility options available, how to locate an appropriate placement, and follow-up if placement occurs.

Adult Protective Services:

Adult Protective Services

Reports are received and evaluated when a disabled adult is alleged to need protection in cases of abuse, neglect, and exploitation.  
 

Reports can be made 24 hours/day, 365 days/year.  Please call the Craven County Sheriff Department at 252-633-2357 on nights, weekends, & holidays to ask for the on-call social worker.  
 

Case Management:

Services provided to the frail elderly (60+) and disabled adults to assist them in finding, accessing and coordinating services necessary to meet their basic living needs.  Emphasis is placed on helping clients maintain independence and continue living in the community.  

Guardianship:

Guardianship and Alternatives to Guardianship

Services are provided to individuals whom the court has deemed incompetent and who have no one to act on their behalf.

In-Home Aide Services:

In-home Aides

Services may be provided for those with impaired functioning who need help with daily living tasks (primarily personal care and hygiene) to prevent further decline and premature placement in a facility.

Medicaid recipients may be eligible for Personal Care Services.  A doctor’s referral is required and program eligibility is determined by Division of Medical Assistance or its designee.  For more information, click on the link below:

Special Needs Registry:

The Special Needs Registry is a database of information about individuals in Craven County with special needs who may require assistance in the event of a disaster. The registry is designed as a means to contact these identified individuals and offer assistance before a disaster.  Click below for the application:
