Craven Community College

Craven Community College (CCC) is a comprehensive community college with campuses in New Bern and Havelock-Cherry Point.

Craven serves more than 3,200 curriculum students and nearly 10,000 continuing education students each year. CCC features a wide range of programs, including college transfer courses, career and occupational offerings, partnerships with four-year universities, specialized workforce training options, developmental studies and basic skills classes.

The College features an FAA-certified Aviation Systems Technology program, as well as a number of health care offerings, including Nursing Medical Assisting and Health Information Technology.

Through University Connections, Craven’s partnerships with East Carolina University, North Carolina State University, NC Wesleyan College, and Southeastern Illinois University, students have the opportunity to pursue bachelor’s degrees without ever leaving the area.

The Bosch Advanced Manufacturing Center on the New Bern Campus provides state-of-the-art training in manufacturing methods and processes to support industrial employers.

The Havelock-Cherry Point Campus is home to the Institute of Aeronautical Technology, which provides training in aircraft maintenance to support the Fleet Readiness Center East at nearby MCAS Cherry Point.

The Volt Center offers educational programs specializing in construction and manufacturing trades that are in high-demand across Eastern North Carolina. Many training programs include hands-on experience, certifications, and are available at no cost! Classes are offered at the Volt Center through Craven Community College’s Workforce Development Program. Current learning opportunities include:

North Carolina State University - Havelock

The NC State / CCC partnership allows students to complete t he necessary transfer courses and then apply to complete their 4-year engineer degree in NC State’s Mechanical Engineering Systems BSE program (MES) located at Craven Community College. Throughout this program, a student can gradate wit their engineering degree from NC State without ever leaving Craven Community College and be qualified to apply for any job seeking mechanical engineering applicants. The MES program was evaluated under the criteria for Mechanical Engineering Programs and is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.

North Carolina Wesleyan College at Craven Community College

North Carolina Wesleyan College to offer Bachelor of Science degrees in business administration, marketing and organization, marketing and organizational administration, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice on CCC’s New Bern and Havelock campuses. The articulation agreement will allow students to complete these degrees without leaving Craven County.

University of Mount Olive

The University of Mount Olive’s New Bern, NC location provides adult students with a flexible, affordable solution to higher education, offering one-night-a-week classes to help adult students earn their college degree while working full-time and/or raising a family. Online classes are also available. Mt. Olive offers associate’s or bachelor’s degree options in a variety of disciplines, including business administration, criminal justice, early childhood education and much more. The University of Mount Olive is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission in Colleges to award the associate, bachelor’s , and master’s degrees.
